Executive Director, Semantic and Knowledge Engineering

Role: Executive Director of Semantic and Knowledge Engineering leading enterprise semantic layer and knowledge platform development for Novartis' NovaOS. Responsibilities: define and execute semantic technology strategy, lead ontology and taxonomy governance, design semantic layer for AI and analytics, partner cross-functionally with Applied AI, Data Science, and Engineering teams, establish governance standards, and drive innovation in knowledge graphs and semantic search. Manage and develop a team of semantic engineers and ontology specialists. Requirements: Bachelor's or advanced degree in CS, AI, Data Science, or related field; 10+ years of experience in semantic technologies, enterprise architecture, or AI platforms; deep expertise in ontologies, RDF/OWL, knowledge graphs, and enterprise info architecture; strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. Desirable: experience applying semantic tech in generative AI and highly regulated industries such as pharma or healthcare. Work setup: remote possible with some travel (~10%) to East Hanover, NJ; no relocation assistance.
