Role Summary

Executive Director of Global Procurement Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) leads the development and execution of BMS's global TPRM strategy, processes, and technology for GxP goods and services. Oversees the TPRM framework and functional operations across all business units, partnering with Corporate Ethics & Compliance to drive continuous improvement and manage escalations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development and Leadership: Set and communicate a global vision aligned to enterprise priorities; develop and execute a comprehensive TPRM strategy; maintain executive presence with scientific leaders, regulatory authorities, and the C-suite; lead the TPRM program framework and ensure compliance and effective risk management; expand the program to assess all suppliers within a single platform; plan and lead Steering Committee meetings; represent TPRM in key forums; serve as primary contact for audits.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build trust with R&D, regulatory, commercial, Manufacturing, finance, and operations leaders; bridge between executive leadership and on-the-ground teams.
  • Innovation & Transformation: Champion digitalization, AI, and process re-engineering; lead continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
  • Process and Technology Management: Identify and drive changes to TPRM processes, policies, and tools; keep policies up-to-date; prioritize system changes; implement AI and automation to scale risk management and enhance risk intelligence.
  • Functional Operations Oversight: Lead the Functional TPRM Operations team; act as escalation point for process/tool issues; foster partnerships with IT, legal, procurement, and other units; lead cross-functional efforts to address program challenges and drive improvements.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training materials to drive awareness and compliance; promote education about TPRM processes.
  • Monitoring, Reporting, and Metrics: Build and refine KPIs, reports, and dashboards; monitor compliance and engagement; update reporting based on feedback; prepare leadership reports for key stakeholders.
  • People Management: Lead a multicultural team of TPRM professionals; recruit, onboard, train, and develop talent; set performance criteria and manage performance; support career development with ongoing coaching.
  • Internal/External Stakeholders: Collaborate with Global Procurement Leadership, Compliance & Ethics, Global Quality, IT Operations, Cybersecurity, and other risk domains; engage external service providers and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • B.S./B.A.
    • 12–15 years of business experience
    • 10–12 years in multi-disciplinary procurement or risk management
    • 10 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
    • Experience leading cross-functional/global teams
    • Managerial experience with senior professionals and managers
    • Technical expertise in third-party risk tools (e.g., ProcessUnity, Resilinc)
    • Proven leadership track record managing teams and setting performance expectations
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • M.S./M.B.A.
    • Professional certifications (e.g., CPM, CPIM, Six Sigma)
    • Experience applying AI to improve risk intelligence
    • Strong team leadership and stakeholder management
    • Experience with SAP, Ariba, Oracle and large ERP / Source-to-Pay tools
    • Analytics, KPI/SLA management, continuous improvement, project management
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
    • Customer service mindset and ability to influence without authority
