Role Summary

Executive Director, Global Facilities Operations responsible for strategic leadership of the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) team, overseeing a diverse portfolio of R&D, Product Development, Corporate Headquarters and Commercial offices across North America, the United Kingdom, Belgium and Switzerland. Leads the GFO Leadership Team to deliver safe, effective and strategically aligned Facilities Services, drives sustainability programs, and develops the global Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) service delivery model. Manages a $700M+ OpEx P&L and long-term CapEx strategy, with a focus on attracting, developing and retaining GTS Leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic development of Facilities Services for 22 locations across North America, the UK, and Europe.
  • Build organizational culture through amenities and services; support growth strategies for R&D, GDD, PD, GPDO, GPS and enabling functions.
  • Collaborate with Global CSS and Corporate Real Estate/Workplace Services on space requirements and master planning; drive innovative space optimization and divestiture or integration activities.
  • Champion innovative digital tools to elevate operational excellence and implement sustainability programs in partnership with Corporate EHSS.
  • Develop internal and external capabilities with the GFO Leadership Team; refine the GFO KPI Dashboard to reflect priorities and transformation areas.
  • Collaborate with site Leadership Teams to communicate with local authorities and communities, shaping a positive image of the company.
  • Develop site-level Capital Strategic Plans with CSS and key stakeholders; prioritize master planning to align with business needs.
  • Co-create IFM strategies with SS&P, Operations, Legal, and Finance to enable global IFM delivery; ensure execution across in-scope services.
  • Develop and implement global IFM strategies to meet service requirements regardless of size or complexity.
  • Foster collaboration with IFM Service Providers across GTS and non-GTS facilities, covering soft services, maintenance, utilities, security, and laboratory services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years in pharmaceutical engineering or facilities operations, with 10+ years of managerial experience.
  • Enterprise mindset to develop and implement Facilities Management policies and programs.
  • Experience with budget forecasting for maintenance and operations; proficient with OpEx planning and financial systems.
  • Strong experience in facilities technologies and infrastructure (HVAC, process, automation).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA; GMP and FDA regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce, including outsourced or matrixed models.
  • Experience implementing Integrated Facilities Management service delivery with incentives and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to lead a flexible, multitasking team; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of RCA and continuous improvement culture.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; project management background or OpEx Yellow Belt desired.
  • Facilitation skills in cross-functional, matrixed environments; strong critical reasoning and decision-making.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to work independently; knowledge of BAS, CMMS, CAFM, SAP, Ariba, etc.
  • Ability to manage interface with regulatory authorities.
