Role Summary

Executive Director, Customer Analytics at Amgen. Responsible for building and leading a highly analytical team to deliver actionable insights that enable Amgen brands to serve more patients across the US portfolio. Oversees secondary and subnational analytics, including strategic targeting, specialty pharmacy/PSP analytics, and reporting. Reports to the VP of Customer Data & Analytics and collaborates with senior leaders to drive evidence-based decision making and maximum business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of secondary analysts to deliver actionable insights for the Amgen US portfolio
  • Partner with senior business leaders to understand and influence strategic imperatives related to secondary/subnational research and analytics; act as a thought partner and encourage evidence-based decision making
  • Serve as advisor to US leadership by providing unbiased recommendations and trade-off considerations
  • Align team members and allocate resources to reflect business imperatives; develop clear action plans tied to priorities and gain organizational alignment
  • Instill a strong commitment to quality and standards in analytical frameworks and presentations; ensure final products are well vetted and reliable
  • Ensure analytics teams have a deep understanding of the business, including therapeutic area and market dynamics
  • Provide thought leadership and promote best practices; incorporate new methods and tools as appropriate
  • Demonstrate expertise in solving structured and unstructured problems through relevant analytical approaches
  • Encourage cross-portfolio analytics best practice sharing
  • Help build analytics as a competitive advantage, including developing team members and career paths
  • Lead strategic special projects shaping the organization’s direction
  • Collaborate across the organization with cross-functional partners and maintain an enterprise mindset
  • Deliver effective and efficient reporting solutions for the field, brand, and other parts of the organization

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 6 years of experience in successfully applied analytics in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry OR
    • Master’s degree and 10 years of experience in successfully applied analytics in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry OR
    • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience in successfully applied analytics in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry AND
    • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, brands, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Executive presence to establish credibility with SVP/EVP level staff
    • Leadership experience in building high-performing teams and delivering results
    • Strategic thinking across a portfolio of therapeutics across geographies and development stages
    • Experience managing multiple senior stakeholders and prioritizing responsibilities
    • Business acumen for pharmaceutical markets
    • Ability to deliver high-quality predictions guiding strategic decisions
    • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills for senior audiences
    • Knowledge of descriptive and predictive analytics in biopharma
    • Ability to anticipate how shifts in customer or competitor behavior affect tactics
    • Experience managing external analytics vendors
    • Align teams to best practices and champion innovative methodologies
