Role Summary
The Executive Director, Corporate Development leads growth strategy through portfolio leadership, market analysis, due diligence, and business development. You will guide cross-functional teams, drive long-range planning, and shape strategic decisions with senior leadership. This role requires strong leadership, analytical rigor, and financial modeling, with experience in biopharma dealmaking and portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio responsibilities
- Lead program and portfolio strategy, articulate the strategy, and translate it into execution within teams.
- Align program strategy and deliverables with the corporate growth strategy.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to identify, recommend, and execute solutions.
- Build cross-functional partnerships with key stakeholders in Commercial and R&D; influence senior leadership across functions.
- Develop key market assessments and portfolio valuations as required.
- Long Range Plan
- Partner with finance to develop, analyze, and report the Long-Range Plan (10-year forecast).
- Coordinate with Program Management to understand budgets for development projects as inputs for the Long-Range Plan.
- Develop, update, and monitor pipeline valuations and monitor therapeutic areas for significant changes.
- Business Development
- Identify and evaluate new M&A and in-licensing opportunities.
- Lead deal processes as assigned by Corporate Development leadership.
- Coordinate major business development conferences (e.g., BIO, JP Morgan).
- Coordinate post-deal integration and/or alliance management.
- Provide market assessments including valuations and insights on disease states and marketed or development-stage products.
- Conduct detailed company and product assessments including financial valuations and deal terms.
- Assist in generating term sheets and definitive agreements; develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for prospective partners.
- Advocate for acquisitions or in-licensing opportunities and present assessments to senior management.

Qualifications
- Required: Bachelorโs degree in a scientific discipline.
- Preferred: Masterโs Degree (MBA or similar) or higher.
- Required: 14+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries with demonstrated business development and portfolio leadership skills.
- Required: Experience in a CNS portfolio.
- Required: Forecasting and financial modeling acumen and P&L development.
- Required: Experience across all stages of the pharmaceutical product life cycle; commercial experience preferred.
- Required: Strong business acumen and understanding of the pharmaceutical life cycle.
- Required: Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Required: Demonstrated leadership; ability to hold others accountable for delivery across multiple levels without direct authority.
- Required: Strong partnership and problem-solving skills; ability to establish good working relationships, resolve conflict, and devise creative solutions.
- Required: Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate upward and raise issues to teams and senior leadership.
- Required: Authorized to legally work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
