Key Responsibilities:
- Develop vision, strategy, and capabilities for Biotherapeutics DMPK-BA teams across Boston and Seattle sites aligned with Global DMPK-BA and Vertex R&D.
- Develop and execute DMPK-BA scientific strategies from discovery through clinical development, including preclinical PK, ADME, bioanalytical and immunogenicity assays, and translational PKPD approaches for dose selection and clinical projections.
- Communicate DMPK-BA findings, implications, and recommendations to team members, senior leadership, and Vertex R&D governance bodies.
- Build and maintain collaborations with Biology, Preclinical Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, CMC, and other R&D disciplines.
- Implement innovative technologies and approaches to improve scientific impact and/or efficiencies.
- Provide scientific and managerial leadership to prioritize and deliver key projects.
- Ensure scientific excellence and regulatory compliance in DMPK regulatory documents and reports (e.g., investigator brochures, INDs or equivalents, marketing applications).
- Hire, develop, manage, and retain key talent.
- Develop internal/external sourcing and liaise across sites; contribute to Global DMPK-BA resource allocation, staffing, expenses, capital budget, and implementation plans.
- Participate in review of business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field; 15+ years industry experience at the management level.
- Proven experience managing DMPK-BA teams across more than one therapeutic area; deep experience with biotherapeutic modalities (protein, antibody/nucleic acid therapeutics, cell and gene therapies).
- Deep expertise in PK, ADME, bioanalysis, immunogenicity, biotransformation, and translational PKPD modeling.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to build cross-site/function collaborations.
- Experience preparing regulatory submissions and interacting with health authorities.
- Strong leadership skills, including developing and mentoring emerging talent.
