General Summary:
Executive Director, Biotherapeutics DMPK-Bioanalysis (DMPK-BA) to guide DMPK-BA strategy across Boston and Seattle teams (Vertex Biologics and Cell & Genetic Therapies) as part of the Global DMPK leadership team. Integrate PK, bioanalysis, ADME, and translational PKPD insights into cross-functional program decisions and development plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop vision, strategy, and capabilities for Biotherapeutics DMPK-BA teams aligned with Global DMPK-BA and Vertex R&D.
- Develop and execute DMPK-BA scientific strategies from discovery through clinical development (preclinical PK, ADME, bioanalytical and immunogenicity assays; translational PKPD for dose selection/clinical projections).
- Communicate DMPK-BA findings, implications, and recommendations to teams, senior leadership, and governance bodies.
- Build cross-functional partnerships with Biology, Preclinical Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, CMC, and other R&D disciplines.
- Implement innovative technologies/approaches to improve impact and/or efficiency.
- Provide scientific and managerial leadership for prioritization and delivery of key projects.
- Ensure scientific excellence and regulatory compliance for DMPK documents/reports (investigator brochures, INDs/equivalents, marketing applications).
- Hire, develop, manage, and retain talent.
- Drive internal/external sourcing; contribute to resource allocation, staffing, expenses, capital budget, and implementation plans.
- Participate in review of business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field; 15+ years industry experience at management level.
- Track record managing DMPK-BA teams across more than one therapeutic area; extensive experience with biotherapeutic modalities (protein, antibody/nucleic acid therapeutics, cell and gene therapies).
- Deep expertise in PK, ADME, bioanalysis, immunogenicity, biotransformation, and translational PKPD modeling for biologics.
- Excellent communication; ability to build cross-site/function collaborations.
- Ability to evaluate and implement new science/technology.
- Experience preparing regulatory submissions and interacting with health authorities.
- Strong management/leadership with mentoring of emerging talent.
Pay Range: $268,000 - $402,000
