General Summary:
The Executive Director of Biostatistics is a strategic leader overseeing statistical functions supporting multiple therapeutic areas/portfolios. Leads methodological and quantitative scientific contributions while driving operational excellence, partnering across R&D to generate evidence for Vertex pipelines/products.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Lead scientific statistical methodological expertise using best-in-class and novel approaches to impact the portfolio; oversee quantitative methods with focus on efficiency and innovation.
- Serve as SME/owner for key biometrics processes and associated operating models (SOPs, process maps, training, software/tools).
- Own statistical support in therapeutic areas and/or Global Medical Affairs (early/late development, post-marketing studies, RWE studies, and reimbursement analyses).
- Drive innovative trial designs in complex/fast-changing environments to improve trial efficiency and advise executives.
- Serve as a leader on the Biostatistics Leadership Team for data operations, statistics, and statistical reporting/analytics.
- Represent the company externally in industry, academic, and regulatory forums.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Outstanding communication; excellence in scientific/technical/process writing; influential speech/negotiation; ability to explain complex concepts.
- Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
- Expert in statistical methodology; best practices and new industry trends; agile learner/change agent.
- Executive presence and emotional intelligence.
Education And Experience:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics.
- 15 years relevant work experience (or equivalent education/experience).
Compensation/Flex:
- Pay Range: $271,600 - $407,400; eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards.
- Hybrid or On-Site eligible (Hybrid: remote up to two days/week; On-Site: five days/week on-site, with ad hoc flexibility).
