Operations
Responsibilities:
- Learn and perform clinical ex-vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) to evaluate/optimize donor lungs for transplant.
- Coordinate clinical team arrival and prepare/set up EVLP systems and equipment per protocols; maintain an aseptic zone.
- Evaluate lung condition; lead cannulation/reconstruction of vessels and trachea.
- Operate and maintain EVLP system/equipment; manage EVLP workflow (lung assessment, venous gas sampling, bronchoscopy, x-ray collection, recruitment/deflation).
- Conduct lab testing/analysis to determine transplant suitability; communicate with LBE Medical Consultants and accepting transplant surgeons; address clinical/safety/eligibility questions.
- Monitor protocol adherence and determine EVLP case completion; follow OPTN lung packaging; support post-EVLP logistics.
- Participate in clinical review/administrative/scientific activities; support QC/QA (deviation documentation, SOP review); collaborate on pre-clinical/translational research.
- Triage EVLP referrals with call center; evaluate donor suitability from OPO/transplant referrals; review donor charts for inclusion/exclusion criteria; initiate documentation in data platform; assist with pre-EVLP logistics to meet timeframes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years as a Procurement Transplant Coordinator with critical care donor patient experience (with Associate’s) OR 2+ years (with Bachelor’s).
- 2+ years in two of: sterile technique, direct participation in surgical procedures, critical care (ventilator management, blood gas interpretation).
- On hire: ability to train onsite in Jacksonville, FL and Silver Spring, MD; pass qualification requirements.
- Specialized knowledge of lung physiology/mechanics; data collection/analysis.
- Computer skills: Apple/PC; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Competent in sterile technique and basic surgical skills (e.g., suturing/tying).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- 2+ years advanced organ procurement/transplant.
- CPTC certification.
