Role: Equipment Engineer I supporting manufacturing equipment in Flow Cell production at Illumina. Objectives: ensure equipment reliability, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement improvements to optimize safety, quality, yield, and efficiency. Responsibilities: hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, automation, and control systems; support preventive maintenance, calibrations, upgrades, and performance monitoring; develop technical documentation and training materials; collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Quality, R&D); and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Requirements: Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline; 0-2 years of relevant hands-on experience; skills in troubleshooting automation systems, electrical schematics, and diagnostic tools; basic knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, machine vision, PLCs, sensors, and scripting (e.g., Python). Preferred: exposure to automated manufacturing environments, semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing, industrial control systems, and data analysis tools. High-value: entry-level to early-career role supporting highly automated biopharma manufacturing, with a focus on maintaining equipment in a high-volume, high-precision setting. Work setup: primarily on the manufacturing floor, with some documentation and collaboration activities; flexibility to support varied schedules if needed.
