Role Summary

Environmental Consultant - Global Manufacturing HSE provides technical expertise and support to manufacturing sites on environmental compliance and performance across air, water, and waste. The role involves developing environmental control and permitting strategies, guiding compliance initiatives, and identifying and reducing significant environmental risks. Located at Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis, with some travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for environmental programs across global manufacturing sites.
  • Support the development of permitting strategies and assist in securing permits including Air Title V, Major NSR, Minor Source Permits, and Water permits including NPDES, Section 401 WQC, and Section 404.
  • Promote best practices to reduce environmental compliance risks through training programs, risk assessments, and the development of standards and procedures.
  • Provide environmental regulatory interpretations and partner with Legal counsel to evaluate, communicate, and eliminate environmental risks associated with global business operations.
  • Support sites in implementing the company Environmental Standard and global HSE expectations, ensuring compliance and operational flexibility.
  • Conduct environmental program assessments and provide site support for environmental programs and capital projects as needed.
  • Provide mentoring to environmental and engineering staff to develop capability on environmental programs, tools, and risk reduction methodologies.
  • Maintain and develop tools and processes for effective management of environmental programs (collaboration site, emissions database, assessment tools, program metrics, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Required: BS in Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or related field
  • Required: Minimum 8 years of experience in an environmental Air and/or Water permitting and compliance role

Education

  • BS in Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or related field

Skills

  • Experience with Title V, PSD, Nonattainment NSR, NESHAP, and NSPS Air regulations
  • Experience with NPDES, Section 401 WQC, and Section 404 Water Permitting regulations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management, planning, and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent technical writing and environmental auditing experience
