Role Summary

The Environmental Compliance Manager serves as Haleon’s Subject Matter Expert for compliance with environmental external permits, consents, licenses, and regulations, as well as internal environmental compliance and reporting processes, including pharmaceuticals in the environment (PiE) requirements. This role leads environmental compliance risk management strategy and provides governance to enable positive business performance and effective risk management. The role collaborates across Haleon to implement and maintain systems capturing environmental compliance requirements and responsibilities, and works with Sustainability, Legal, R&D Trusted Ingredients Team, and Procurement on priorities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional environmental compliance expertise and leadership to diverse EHS/business leads; support regional and site-based environmental compliance Subject Matter Experts.
  • Ensure QSC and R&D sites have effective environmental compliance programmes to meet external requirements and Haleon internal requirements.
  • Provide governance for the standard and operational framework to ensure sites maintain compliance with environmental permits, consents, licenses, regulations, and internal Haleon requirements.
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for Haleon sites to demonstrate and maintain compliance with PiE requirements.
  • Together with Haleon Legal, represent Haleon externally for legacy remediation obligations.
  • Provide information and opportunities to enhance environmental compliance capability and collaboration opportunities for Haleon personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • Significant hands-on experience in managing and governing environmental compliance risks in manufacturing, R&D, or FMCG environments.
  • Proficient in interpretation and application of environmental compliance legislation.
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability initiatives for air, water, and waste and emerging issues.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to build relationships and develop solutions to complex problems in a manufacturing/R&D/FMCG environment.
  • Understanding of internal and external influences to deliver sustainable environmental compliance services in agile organizations.
  • Advanced Degree in Life Science, Engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in environmental compliance management.
  • Licensure as a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer.
  • Experience with soil or groundwater investigation and remediation.
  • Awareness of emerging regulatory compliance issues.
