Role Summary

The Environmental Compliance Manager serves as Haleon’s Subject Matter Expert for environmental permits, licenses, and regulations, and for internal environmental compliance and reporting processes, including pharmaceuticals in the environment (PiE). This role leads environmental compliance risk management strategy and provides governance to enable positive business performance and risk mitigation. It collaborates across EHS, Sustainability, Legal, R&D, and Procurement to implement systems and processes that capture environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional environmental compliance expertise and leadership to diverse EHS/business leads across geographical and cultural boundaries. Provide management and support to regional and site-based environmental compliance Subject Matter Experts.
  • Ensure QSC and R&D sites have effective environmental compliance programmes to meet external and internal Haleon requirements and reduce noncompliance risk.
  • Provide governance for the standard and operational framework to ensure sites maintain compliance with environmental permits, consents, licenses, regulations, and internal Haleon requirements.
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for Haleon sites to demonstrate and maintain compliance with PiE requirements.
  • Represent Haleon externally for legacy remediation obligations in collaboration with Haleon Legal.
  • Provide information and opportunities to enhance environmental compliance capability and collaboration across Haleon.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • Significant hands-on experience in managing and governing environmental compliance risks in manufacturing, R&D, or FMCG environments (air emissions, wastewater, waste management, soil/groundwater).
  • Proficient in interpretation and application of environmental compliance legislation.
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability initiatives for air, water, and waste and emerging compliance issues.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to build relationships and develop solutions for complex problems.
  • Demonstrable understanding of delivering environmental compliance services in agile organizations with external networks for benchmarking.
