The Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering Planning, the Summer Intern will work in a team focused on evaluating capital project requests and optimizing operational processes. The intern will gain exposure to feasibility analyses, engineering standards development, and process modeling to support strategic decision-making.

Here’s What You’ll Do:  

    • Lead a small engineering Front End Planning project, including 
    • Stakeholder alignment and scope development 
    • Equipment list, utility analysis, and layout development 
    • Feasibility and operational analyses 
    • Schedule and cost development 
    • Presentation to project and business stakeholders, providing assessment findings and recommendations 
  • Additional opportunities 
    • Investigate assigned business and manufacturing operations challenges; collect and interpret operational data in preparation for simulation 
    • Assist in building a comprehensive library of engineering specifications and standards 
    • Develop standardized CapEx project execution templates in Asana PMO software 

Requirements: 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in engineering with preference for Chemical Engineering
  • Skills: 
    • Familiar with industrial piping systems and typical biotech production and utility unit operations 
    • Exposure to process analysis, operational data collection, or related problem-solving activities 
    • Knowledge of discrete event process modeling is a bonus but not required 
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
    • Strong curiosity and a desire to learn 
    • Determined and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently 
    • Comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance when needed 
    • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills 
    • Effective verbal and written communication abilities 

The budgeted range for this position is $25.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected hourly range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
