Role Summary

Engineer, Technology II, Hybrid responsible for independently identifying, engineering, and optimizing data, software, or technology solutions that address critical business needs. Continuously seek to improve existing methods and processes, reading and adapting literature and publicly available information to accomplish assignments. Demonstrates proficiency across a broad range of IT engineering techniques, including software development, data warehousing, statistics, machine learning, and technology infrastructure. Determines approaches and solutions to problems within the scope of own ability, and develops solutions where causal relationships and precedents exist.

Responsibilities

  • Applies analytical thinking to diagnose and make recommendations on systems, translating data from user discussions into business requirements.
  • Identifies business/system needs and recommends solutions; assists with testing strategies and develops preliminary findings; work is performed with a high degree of independence and performance is judged by results.
  • Independently design and develop data, software, or technology solutions to answer scientific or business questions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency across technologies related to programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, and data visualization and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field and at least 5 years relevant experience OR Masters degree in relevant field and at least 4 years experience.
  • Two years of experience with machine learning, generative and agentic artificial intelligence.
  • Understand the broad objectives of the project and the role in achieving them; escalate open issues to ensure execution success and keep stakeholders informed via effective communication.
  • Learn, understand, and master new methods and technologies; act as a resource or mentor for others.
  • Effectively organize and present project objectives and progress; contribute to technical publications and presentations.
  • Obtain estimates/quotes from vendors and provide input into overall project time and cost estimates.
  • Maintain relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, and vendors in accordance with company values and purchasing processes.
  • Produce and maintain required technical documentation associated with work product.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding policies, safety, data security, and software development lifecycle.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field or Masters degree in relevant field as noted in Qualifications.
