Role: Engineer II in Conjugation Process Development within Vaxcyte's CMC organization, focusing on the development, scale-up, and manufacturing of polysaccharide-based conjugate vaccines using cell-free synthesis. Responsibilities: operate and maintain laboratory equipment; design and execute studies to optimize conjugation processes; provide technical oversight during cGMP production campaigns; review protocols and batch records; serve as a subject matter expert; support facility and process scale-up; contribute to pipeline development; document findings; participate in technical discussions; collaborate with cross-functional teams. Requirements: PhD (2-5 years), MS (7+ years), or BS (10+ years) in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology; practical bioprocess experience at bench, pilot, or manufacturing scale; strong knowledge of cGMP; proficiency with standard software; excellent communication skills. Preferred: experience in late-stage bioprocess development; background in vaccine conjugation processes; understanding of engineering principles for scale-up. High-Value: focus on conjugation of polysaccharides to carrier proteins for bacterial vaccines; involvement in cGMP manufacturing; collaborative role within CMC, based in San Carlos, CA, onsite five days a week.
