Role: Process Development Engineer II within Illumina's Manufacturing Technology & Transfer team, focused on developing and scaling manufacturing processes for consumables used in genomic sequencing. Responsibilities: own process development from feasibility through transfer and production ramp, including adhesive bonding, laser micromachining, die singulation, and automated assembly; conduct experimentation and analyze data to optimize yield, quality, and reliability; develop validation and transfer documentation; support equipment qualification, process change management, and troubleshooting; collaborate with cross-functional teams across R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain. Requirements: bachelor's in engineering or related field; 2+ years of industry experience in manufacturing process development, process characterization, or transfer; hands-on experience with precision mechanical assembly, laser processing, or automated assembly; proficiency in statistical methods, DOE, SPC, and root-cause analysis; strong communication skills. Preferred: master's degree; experience with high-volume manufacturing for regulated products, equipment qualification, DFMA, and supplier development; knowledge of process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
