Role: Mechanical Design Engineer within Illumina's Manufacturing Technology and Transfer organization, focusing on developing and supporting manufacturing equipment solutions for genomics consumables. Responsibilities: design, modify, and validate automation equipment and fixtures for NPI and manufacturing, including transfer, troubleshooting, and issue resolution; collaborate cross-functionally with Process Engineering, Product Development, Validation, and Quality teams; conduct tolerance analyses and failure investigations; manage product transfer to production ensuring milestone achievement. Requirements: 2-3 years (Bachelor's) or 1-2 years (Master's) experience in biotech, medical device, or IVD fields; BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar; proficiency in SolidWorks; solid understanding of mechanical design principles, electromechanical components, and manufacturing methods. Preferred: experience in FDA-regulated environments, statistical methods, and electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
