Electrician (Hourly - RY-USW Union Represented Position)
Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain or alter electrical services, equipment and controls using approved materials.
- Work with high- and low-voltage systems, including transformers and primary/secondary transformers.
- Work with facilities/research electrical systems including VFDs, UPS/lighting inverters, ATSs, emergency generators, lighting systems, gas detection systems, motors, etc.
- Work from CAD drawings, prints, schematics, sketches or verbal instructions.
- Install static grounding circuits.
- Operate hand/power tools and test instruments; maintain/return equipment in good condition.
- Follow safety rules/regulations; report unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, efficient, clean condition.
- Assist other duties, including work of other trades as required.
Shift:
- Day shift (7 am–3:45 pm) or 2nd shift (3:00 pm–11:45 pm), determined by position availability after polling.
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent; vocation/technical school certification.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Completed courses in Electrical Theory and Practice.
- Familiarity with the local National Electric Code.
- Understand wiring diagrams, schematics and CAD drawings/blueprints.
- Knowledge of electrical motors and controls.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- 5+ years apprenticeship or equivalent industrial electrical installation and repair experience; able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Compensation Range:
- $36.79 to $45.98.
Required Skills:
- Circuit troubleshooting; electrical installations and repair; equipment repairs; instrumentation; hand tools; test instruments; wiring schematics; safety culture/site safety.
