Onsite role at Charles City, IA manufacturing site. Remote and/or hybrid candidates will not be considered.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day oversight to ensure environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance with site, corporate, and regulatory requirements.
- Support and lead EHS improvement projects; conduct EHS risk assessments, self-assessments, internal audits, loss prevention assessments, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analyses; develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and analyze documentation, reports, and presentations; maintain permit recordkeeping, compliance trackers, and timely submissions.
- Monitor and evaluate workplace exposure hazards; recommend controls; participate in process hazard analysis, design reviews, change control, and product transfer teams.
- Manage environmental programs for air emissions, waste management, and water (e.g., SPCC, SARA, TRI, refrigerant management).
- Facilitate site committees/teams (safety, sustainability, spill/emergency response) and collaborate cross-functionally.
Education & Experience (required):
- Bachelorβs degree in science, engineering, environmental/health/safety, or related technical field.
Experience levels: Associate (0β2 yrs), Specialist (2β4 yrs), Manager (6β10 yrs; or MS/MPH with 2β4 yrs).
Required/Desirable Skills:
- Strong knowledge of federal and Iowa EHS regulations; excellent English communication; solve practical EHS problems; work on multiple projects.
- Microsoft Office 365 proficiency; ability to track/analyze data; EHS management systems experience (ISO/VPP) desirable; CSP/CIH/CHMM desirable.
Physical Requirements (high level):
- Ability to walk/stand/sit long periods; climb ladders; use PPE; respond to emergencies; pass ERT physical (lift 50β75 lbs occasionally); work in confined spaces; physical mobility for frequent reaching/bending/handling; repetitive wrist/hand/finger motion.
