Role Summary

Looking for a dynamic role where you can truly make an impact on safety and sustainability? As a key player within the EH&S team, you'll support and fine tune our corporate Environmental Health & Safety programs, ensuring they run seamlessly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform laboratory inspections to ensure compliance and recommend corrective actions where environmental health and safety hazards exist
  • Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, performs radioactive contamination surveys, maintains radioactive materials inventory, administer dosimetry program, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and may assist in consolidating and shipping hazardous waste (chemical, biohazardous and radioactive).
  • Monitor and control employee exposure to radiation, chemical, and biological hazards
  • Coordinate collection and disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Maintain inventory and operation of safety equipment, including calibrating detection equipment
  • Participate in miscellaneous Operations Department activities including, but not limited to: shipping and receiving activities, asset management, inventory management (laboratory supply and chemical), facilities support, and plant operations.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in a scientific or related discipline preferred and 2+ years of relevant experience in the environmental health and safety field OR
  • AS degree in a scientific or related discipline preferred and 4+ years of relevant experience in the environmental health and safety field
  • Preferred at least 4 yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ experience with radioactive materials
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certificate preferred. DOT Hazardous Material Handler certificate preferred. DOT 49 CFR and IATA certificate preferred
  • IATA and DOT 49 CFR shipping certification
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Good project management skills including the ability to plan, organize, and work efficiently to support laboratory personnel and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze data and investigate options accurately to respond with logical and effective action
  • Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative and innovative solutions to problems
  • Valid driverβ€šΓ„Γ΄s license and ability to drive company vehicles
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills
  • Detail oriented
