EH&S Senior Manager – Environmental
What You Will Do
- Provide EHS Environmental Management leadership and client support across Amgen’s network.
- Lead global environmental compliance management programs and support innovative, compliant solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assure innovative, compliant, and efficient facility design, execution, and operational readiness.
- Participate in Capital Project Environmental assessments and design.
- Use a “Plan, Do, Check, Act” digital management systems approach to monitor and improve program network performance.
- Serve as global program manager and subject matter expert (air quality, regulated waste management, hazardous material transportation; emphasis on wastewater compliance).
- Provide environmental compliance guidance and solve complex challenges.
- Implement global environmental management systems to assure compliance with country/state/local regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Integrate with Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams to execute compliance programs.
- Investigate environmental incidents and ensure corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct environmental expertise for risk assessments of systems/processes.
- Prepare EHS governance dashboards and advise functional leadership.
- Evaluate regulatory landscape changes and develop compliance plans/processes.
Basic Qualifications
- High school/GED + 12 years EH&S or Engineering experience, OR Associate +10, OR Bachelor’s +8, OR Master’s +6, OR Doctorate +2.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree and 10 years leading EHSS programs in pharma/biotech.
- Relevant EHS certifications (e.g., CHMM, CEP, Board Certified Environmental Engineer).
- Experience managing environmental compliance, due diligence, management systems, and capital project design.
- Strong leadership/communication; continuous improvement; proficient in Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, and EHS software.
