Role Summary

Donor Recovery Specialist in Seattle, WA. Represent MIMEDX as an ambassador of the Placenta Donation Program, educating clinical staff and physicians and maintaining hospital partnerships. Coordinate daily procurement of donor birth tissue for manufacturing MIMEDX products.

Responsibilities

  • Account & Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain a positive impression of the Placenta Donation Program among physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and hospital leadership
  • Identify and address problems with hospital staff, physicians, or nursing leadership
  • Coordinate with hospital staff and leadership to minimize disruption and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Train hospital staff and physicians, providing in-services as needed
  • Donor Interaction & Screening
  • Safely acquire all birth tissue for manufacturing
  • Educate and recruit/consent donors for participation in the Donation Program
  • Evaluate potential donors for tissue eligibility via medical/social review and in-person questionnaire
  • Maintain traceability of donor records and complete necessary forms
  • Tissue Acquisition
  • Recover tissue in an Operating Room, ensuring aseptic handling and addressing observations with surgical staff
  • Facilitate collection of donor blood specimens; coordinate with phlebotomy, pathology, and laboratory
  • Create sterile field and add tissue transport solution aseptically; track supplies and reagents
  • Package donated tissues for transport to manufacturing facility; ensure adequate and compliant arrival
  • Manage supplies and maintain equipment for the Donation Program on the hospital unit

Problem Solving

  • Work with clinical staff to implement best practices for daily operations
  • Identify and resolve problems with donors or hospital staff in real time
  • Escalate complex issues to manager or supervisor as needed

Decision Making/Scope Of Authority

  • Exercise prudent judgement to screen donors for safety and transplant eligibility
