POSITION: District Manager (field-based)
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing sales team of Clinical Specialists to launch Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product for Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) and future follow-on indications.
- Achieve/exceed sales goals by executing regional brand strategy and coaching, motivating, training, hiring, and retaining talent with strong accountability for results.
- Partner cross-functionally to understand and address customer needs while ensuring compliant, high-standard customer/patient experiences.
- Understand the healthcare market and the FCS/sHTG community, including key accounts treating cardiovascular/lipid diseases; advocate for improved patient outcomes.
- Develop and execute customer-focused strategic account plans; lead customer account planning for target accounts.
- Provide oversight of short- and long-term plans for key accounts, including C-suite relationships in important IDN systems.
- Foster innovation and best-practice sharing to exceed business goals.
- Lead day-to-day field operations aligned to commercialization/sales strategy; set product knowledge/promotional standards.
- Perform ongoing performance management: feedback, training (with Learning & Development), reviews, coaching, and development plan execution.
- Ensure adherence to corporate compliance policies/procedures/guidelines.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration and share customer/operational insights with regional leadership.
Qualifications:
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and compliant driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA in Life Science/Biology or similar) or business-related field.
- MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
- 8+ years cross-functional commercial life sciences experience (pharma/biotech); specialty experience with biologics preferred.
- Track record meeting/exceeding quantitative and qualitative targets.
- Proven leadership developing/training/providing feedback to Clinical Specialists.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication; relationship management; ability to engage C-suite.
- Strong adherence to healthcare laws/codes/company policies.
- Deep healthcare system knowledge including market access and payer reimbursement.
- Deep account management experience (local/regional health system understanding preferred).
