The Position
- Develop and lead sales teams to execute sales strategies that increase profitability and maximize sales objectives.
- Work with RBD to manage, train, and develop staff.
- Prepare regional budget and business plans. (Entry level district business manager position.)
Relationships
- Reports to the Regional Business Director.
- Manages a region’s sales force and has direct supervisory responsibility for Diabetes Care Specialists.
- Works with RBD, peers, and home office to achieve sales objectives and develop people.
- Coordinates with physicians, key accounts, co-promotion partners, associations, and field/home office personnel.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to the Prescription Drug Marketing Act of 1987 and related company policies on physician samples and stock items.
- Ensure timely and accurate transmission of DCS call data.
- Monitor and reinforce use of the Sales Force Automation System.
- Submit monthly highlight reports on competitive products.
- Develop and monitor performance against regional budgets.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of administrative requirements.
- Establish/oversee regional implementation and monitor adherence to administrative policies/procedures.
- Evaluate appropriate use of regional resources to achieve profitability goals.
- Review and audit expense reports.
- Continuously improve knowledge of company and competitive products and management skills via home study and company-approved training.
- Execute regional account targeting strategy.
- Oversee customer needs assessments and feed requirements into program development (contracting, marketing programs).
- Manage regional resource allocation.
- Monitor performance against strategic account management objectives and directives.
- Monitor effectiveness of regional programs/initiatives.
- Oversee regional account relationship development/management; set relationship objectives for regional staff.
- Execute the regional business plan (delivery-of-care system delineation, account targeting, needs assessment, program implementation).
- Ensure appropriate coordination to attain plan objectives.
- Meet contractual requirements (physician calls per day).
- Coordinate field, intra-organization, and inter-organizational resources (incorporate district with RBD).
- Work with RBD, DBMs, home office, and CSO counterparts on programs/initiatives.
Physical Requirements
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and remain in good standing (per company motor vehicle record points threshold).
Development of People
- Ensure reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDPs) with annual goals/measurements and interim reviews aligned to business priorities.
- Ensure IDPs include learning and aspiration plans; support capability for increased responsibility.
- Manage application/communication of company policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or Pharm D required.
- 5+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience required.
- Previous people management experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze business and build strategies reflecting marketplace trends and customer needs.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities that engage individuals and teams to perform at a high level.
