Clinical Research and Development
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and advance state-of-the-art genome engineering and mouse genetics for in vivo model development.
- Use expertise in transgenesis and CRISPR to design/execute studies for target validation, proof-of-concept, and efficacy.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new transgenesis/genome-engineering technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems, emerging platforms).
- Advise research teams on in vivo and preclinical study design across immunology/immuno-inflammation, rare diseases, neuroscience, and molecular/immune-oncology.
- Champion integration of AI and digital technologies for model design, data analysis, and predictive capabilities.
- Align transgenic capabilities with organizational priorities; lead transversal teams across therapeutic divisions, sites, and external partners.
- Drive budget planning, forecasting, and financial management.
- Build project management frameworks from model design through study-ready animal production; manage providers/CROs/academics.
- Negotiate/oversee licenses and partnership contracts; implement quality standards and continuous improvement.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff; support hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and org development.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, or related.
- Extensive post-doctoral/industry experience in mouse molecular genetics and transgenic model development.
- Demonstrated scientific leadership track record in academic or biotech/pharma.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience performing this role.
Additional/Preferred Skills
- Deep expertise creating transgenic models (CRISPR/Cas9, Cas12, base/prime editors, advanced genome engineering).
- Strong foundation in molecular biology, mouse genetics, embryology, reproductive technologies.
- Preferred experience across immunology/oncology/rare diseases/neuroscience.
- Strong project management; contract/vender management; budget and resource allocation.
- Strong communication; ability to work in matrix organizations and influence without direct authority.
