Are you passionate about revolutionizing treatments for obesity and metabolic disorders? The Metabolism Drug Discovery Unit at Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) is seeking a visionary Scientist to lead our groundbreaking efforts in metabolic disease research.
The Distinguished Scientist will lead preclinical metabolism research programs, driving the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for obesity and its co-morbidities. This role requires strategic leadership in target identification, validation, and preclinical drug development, and a deep understanding of biological pathways linked to appetite regulation and energy homeostasis. You are recognized as an established researcher in the field, and able to interact with and influence senior management with respect to data and decision making. You are able to supervise, mentor, and provide career development for scientists and research associates. You will contribute to multifunctional matrixed teams to deliver on the Genentech/Roche strategy and goals for metabolic disease therapeutics, you will evaluate external business development opportunities and will be part of the leadership team of the Metabolism Drug Discovery unit within the Drug Discovery organization.
In this role, you will drive innovative drug discovery projects to go no/go decisions for candidate delivery, and lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams using human genetics, single cell technologies and AI/ML to unravel mechanisms of weight control biology and shape the future of obesity treatments and metabolic health. Work closely with internal experts across computational and experimental disciplines. Aimed at enhancing target identification and drug discovery.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $198,000 - $367,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
