Responsibilities:
- Serve as Public Affairs lead supporting BESD and the IRA team; develop AbbVie-led communications and media strategies for global and U.S. policy issues including MFN, PBM reform, and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
- Serve as Public Affairs lead for value and access initiatives, articulating value of AbbVie medicines in key policy discussions including PDABs, ICER, and other value assessment forums.
- Develop and execute multi-channel corporate and consumer awareness campaigns with Corporate Marketing to establish brand and leadership presence in the D.C. beltway and targeted congressional districts.
- Lead enterprise reputation management by monitoring media, public sentiment, and competitive/opposition messaging; implement rapid-response strategies.
- Prepare and coach AbbVie executives for public forums and media engagements.
- Serve as liaison to International Public Affairs, coordinating advocacy related to MFN and global drug pricing between U.S. and international activities.
- Integrate public affairs with BESD to anticipate and prepare for shifts in policy and external environment.
- Partner with public affairs colleagues to bring an enterprise perspective to brand-specific challenges arising from changing policy landscapes.
- Drive agency partner performance and ensure effective use of AbbVie resources.
- Manage review process for external communications materials (press releases, statements, response documents, fact sheets, etc.) and keep parties apprised of status/timelines to meet deadlines.
- Share best practices and generate new ideas for the Business Unit Communications team.
- Hybrid work model: 3 days in office (Mettawa)/2 days remotely.

Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, public policy, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 yearsโ€™ experience in public affairs, public relations, or policy communications, including federal and/or state government efforts (preferably healthcare).
- Track record developing/executing strategic, measurable public affairs programs in cross-functional settings.
- Strong understanding of U.S. media environment; media relations experience to engage reporters.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong executive presence; experience counseling C-suite on communicating complex business topics.
- Deep experience in issues management, reputation protection, and cross-functional leadership.
- Proven experience crafting thought leadership and positioning for a public company.
- Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and drug supply chain.
