Role Summary

The Director, US Value, Access and Policy Analytics leads analytical support for US value, access, and reimbursement strategy across BioMarin’s product portfolio. You will develop tools such as budget impact analyses to demonstrate value to payers, providers, and other audiences, and support payer engagement and evidence generation. You will bridge PAVE and Government Affairs by interpreting policy changes, developing scenarios, and assessing impact to inform decision-making. Location: preferred SRC, but hybrid or remote arrangements may be possible depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools and materials (e.g. budget impact models) to support product launches and ongoing product commercialization.
  • Support payer engagement activities, including national and regional commercial payers, PBMs, Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Partner with pricing, HEOR, government affairs, patients services and field access teams to develop compelling economic arguments, value propositions and evidence plans.
  • Develop value tools and resources (AMCP dossiers, value decks, coverage policies).
  • Monitor policy, reimbursement, and pricing landscape and assess implications for the business.
  • Develop predictive models to assess the impact of healthcare policy changes, competitive launches, and evolving payer dynamics.
  • Support contracting strategy development and assist with negotiations as needed.
  • Support good relationships with external vendors, consultants and payer advisors.
  • Analyze access and utilization data to inform strategy and measure performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in US market access, managed markets, payer strategy or related pharmaceutical functions.
  • Required: Proficient analytical skills and use of relevant tools and systems.
  • Required: Deep understanding and experience in pricing dynamics.
  • Required: Deep understanding of U.S. healthcare system, reimbursement mechanisms, and payer landscape.
  • Required: Deep understanding of health policy & health system environment for transformative and rare therapies.
  • Required: Superior problem-solving skills, including demonstrated capability of applying previous experience to complex policy issues.
  • Required: Excellent communication, collaboration, influence, strategic and analytical skills are required.
  • Required: Ability to work optimally in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Required: Advanced analytics skills, scenario modeling, and financial implications assessment of policy issues
  • Required: Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Required: Strong command of Microsoft Excel to build and maintain complex models
  • Required: Proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Preferred: US launch experience in specialty therapeutics (Oncology, rare disease, immunology)
  • Preferred: Experience with Medicare Part B/D, Medicaid and commercial payers
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ICER, QALY models, and evidence-based value frameworks
  • Preferred: Understanding of value-based contracting and innovative reimbursement models

Education

  • Bachelors, preferably in life sciences, data sciences or economics/finance
  • MBA or MPH, preferred

Additional Requirements

  • This position is preferably located in BioMarin’s corporate offices in San Rafael, CA, with travel approximately 25%
