Role Summary

Director of Inclusion & Belonging is a strategic leader responsible for advancing inclusion initiatives within the organization. The role collaborates with executive leadership, HR business partners, and employees to foster a culture where all feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. The director will drive engagement, governance of ERGs, and alignment of global strategies with local market needs.

Responsibilities

  • Primary strategist and consultant for the US Commercial Leadership Team, providing support to all BUs through Senior HRBLs, Business Heads, and BU councils.
  • Develop and drive innovative, high-impact strategies that promote an inclusive culture, ensure ERG success, and enhance employee engagement.
  • Identify notable contributions of ERG leaders and employees and support inclusion awards initiatives.
  • Provide governance for inclusion initiatives and activities across the US Market; liaison with global and UK Inclusion teams to align strategies.
  • Oversee management of 11 Employee Resource Groups, aligning objectives with company goals and promoting intersectionality and skill development.
  • Manage a $1M US budget with ROI assessment and policy compliance, including ERG budget accountability.
  • Embed inclusive values into organizational practices, policies, and communications; develop and execute communications promoting inclusion initiatives.
  • Leverage analytics to guide activation of Outreach and ERG Network-aligned strategies and funding.
  • Build external brand presence through partnerships and community outreach; provide thought leadership on inclusion.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on inclusion and belonging practices; align with Global Inclusion Council recommendations.
  • Facilitate listening sessions to understand country-specific inclusion needs and foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Lead the social issues protocol team to develop corporate responses to social issues affecting morale, including risk assessment and equitable outcomes.
  • Act on feedback to continuously improve cultural and inclusion practices; drive engagement through campaigns and partnerships.
  • Manage external speakers and participation of GSK leaders/employees in key events.
  • Participate as a member of the HR Country Executive Board; collaborate with Recruitment, HR & US Fairness and Compliance, and UK Inclusion Lead.
  • Promote and lead Inclusion Awards for the US market; support global submissions for external indices.
  • Support Global Inclusion Lead on key projects (15–20%); manage 1 ERG Business Partner as an indirect report.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Required: Minimum of 7 years of experience in Inclusion & Belonging work, HR, or related discipline; demonstrated leadership in inclusion strategies within a matrix organization; experience influencing senior levels.
  • Required: Strong knowledge of inclusion and belonging best practices, employment law, and organizational change management.
  • Required: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Required: Experience working with diverse cultures and building relationships across all organizational levels; demonstrated courage to speak up and challenge across levels.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, or a related field.
