Role summary
The Director of Strategic Initiatives & Execution will lead and drive the execution of critical Quality and Compliance (Q&C)-wide strategic initiatives, partnering within Quality & Compliance and/or cross-functionally to identify, launch, and lead critical projects with measurable outcomes and impact to the function, J&J sectors, and patients. Provide strategic business partnership to the Q&C finance team on annual financial deliverables (long-range financial plan, business plan, quarterly reporting, and current year forecast updates). Reports to the Sr. Director, Strategic Insights & Performance Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Q&C Strategic Finance: Develop strategic narratives for annual financial deliverables; oversee the Q&C Strategic Insights & Performance Management organization budget (Office of the CQO), including annual planning, monthly tracking/reconciliation/analysis, and purchase/spend reporting; provide ongoing visibility with detailed financial and headcount reporting (planned vs. actual).
- Q&C strategic initiatives and project execution: Identify/evaluate/prioritize opportunities aligned to Q&C vision; translate opportunities into projects (scope, business case, plan, resourcing, success measurement) to secure leadership buy-in; lead end-to-end/daily execution (workstreams, resourcing, governance, risk mitigation, change management, communications).
- Enterprise/Technical Operations & Risk/cross-functional execution: Drive required enterprise/cross-functional initiatives; serve as Q&C lead with clear representation and alignment; support additional deliverables as needed.
- Organization/people/team development: Lead project-based teams; model best practices; facilitate talent development; coach/mentor junior talent.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelorβs degree (strong academic credentials)
- 10+ years relevant experience with progression
- Project leadership with timely execution and outcome delivery via influencing (including non-direct reports)
- Strong communication; synthesize complex info and deliver executive-ready materials
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong data visualization
Preferred:
- Top-tier management consulting firm (or investment bank) experience
- Advanced degree (Economics/Finance/Engineering/Sciences/Computer Science/Technology or related)
- Advanced analytical/financial modeling (scenario/sensitivity analysis)
- Digital/analytics/AI enablement experience
- Experience working with VP+ senior leadership
- Able to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments; manage multiple priorities
