Role Summary
The Director, Strategic Initiatives โ Business Development Strategic Transactions (BDST) partners with departmental and functional leaders to develop and implement cross-functional and function-specific strategies aligned with organizational goals. They provide strategic thought partnership, drive operational excellence, and foster an inclusive, connected culture. The role leads global, complex projects and process-improvement initiatives, supporting R&D through external opportunity assessments and integrations, and ensures cross-functional alignment with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Chief of Staff for the designated functional Head, overseeing collection, synthesis, and communication of relevant information to inform strategy and departmental priorities aligned to organizational goals.
- Question and advise the business to create the best possible outcome to complex issues or projects.
- Bring rigorous conceptual thinking, leveraging external intelligence and/or resources.
- Act as a โgeneralistโ across the organization, bringing projects, concepts, and strategic direction together to ensure optimal outcomes and outputs across functional areas.
Qualifications
- At least 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Ability to lead executive-level discussions to influence complex business decisions.
- Preferred:
- Advanced degree is preferred (PhD, MD, or MBA).
- Experience managing large projects within a complex matrixed organization as a consultant to a pharmaceutical organization, either as an external consultant or an internal cross-functional lead.
- Demonstrated ability to present data and metrics to executive leadership teams that will lead to better business outcomes.

- Advanced Degree required (Masterโs, MD, MBA, PhD).
