Director, Strategic Data Lead

Responsibilities (What you will do):
- Lead strategic data partnership across priority commercial business areas; translate brand/customer needs and analytic use cases into actionable data strategies and sourcing recommendations.
- Partner with Brand teams and cross-functional stakeholders to align analytic frameworks, measurement needs, and business decisions supported by data.
- Define customer-back data use cases (segment, behavior, barriers, decisions, required data, expected business value).
- Assess the commercial data ecosystem (assets, underused sources, gaps, vendors, customer journey needs, external signals).
- Identify opportunities to reuse data, reduce duplication, rationalize underused assets, and redirect spend to higher-value needs.
- Determine whether needs are met via existing/enhanced assets or new external data sources.
- Develop and present data opportunity briefs (business question, use case, analytic need, requirements, vendors, feasibility, risks, investment rationale).
- Own prioritization framework across competing data opportunities; balance value, urgency, feasibility, relevance, and trade-offs.
- Coordinate execution teams across Data Management, Data Science, DTI, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Procurement, Finance, BAI PODs, and vendors.
- Lead business input into renewals, sourcing, investments, and vendor negotiations; define usage, rights, deliverables, and trade-offs.
- Maintain visibility to brand priorities, launch milestones, events, competitive dynamics, and data needs; communicate strategy and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 4 years OR Masterโ€™s + 8 years OR Bachelorโ€™s + 10 years in data acquisition/governance/commercial data operations/vendor management/commercial analytics/data strategy (or related).
- Plus at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams/projects/programs/resource allocation.

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:
- Strong commercial analytic framework understanding (segmentation, targeting, measurement, launch readiness, market access, customer journey, field execution, brand performance, KPI development).
- Customer-back thinking; strong business acumen connecting brand strategy and external data opportunities.
- Experience partnering with Analytics/Market Research/Data Science/Commercial teams.
- Understanding of pharma/healthcare data ecosystems (sales, claims, patient/provider/payer/plan, specialty pharmacy, lab, EHR/EMR, digital/media, access, real-world data).
- Negotiation, stakeholder management, facilitation, prioritization, problem-solving; ability to influence without direct authority.
- Experience partnering with Legal/Privacy/Compliance/Procurement/Finance/DTI/Data Management for compliant, scalable data use.
