Role Summary
The Director, Statistical Innovation provides scientific and statistical leadership to lead or collaborate on clinical development and Data Statistical Sciences initiatives, especially those using advanced statistical methodology, predictive modeling, and machine learning. The role guides modeling/simulation capabilities, designs and evaluations of clinical trials, and fosters external industry presence through publications and talks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive modeling and simulation capabilities in the statistical innovation group
- Leverage advanced modeling/simulation techniques to propose, evaluate, and optimize clinical trial designs for time, cost, and probability of success
- Collaborate with study teams and other functions to evaluate population feasibility, IC/EC impact, patient diversity, and other operational design insights
- Collaborate on state-of-the-art scientific statistical designs using modeling and simulation
- Collaborate with Clinical Pharmacology on QSP (Quantitative Systems Pharmacology) and MIDD (Model-Informed Drug Development) activities
- Build and maintain external reputation through presentations, invited talks, and peer-reviewed publications
Qualifications
- PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or related fields
- At least 10 years of related work experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- Proven ability to collaborate and consult with discipline experts and leaders across functions
- Passionate about modeling and simulation and innovative thinking
- Strong publication records highly desired
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced statistical modeling and simulation
- Proficiency in development, implementation, and rollout of statistical tools and techniques using R, R-Shiny, Python, Julia, etc.
