Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team across data science, ML engineering, and scientific software development.
- Set technical vision and roadmap for AI/ML platforms for discovery research aligned to enterprise priorities.
- Own the full AI/ML platform lifecycle (identify/integrate capabilities, sunset legacy solutions, optimize portfolio performance as priorities evolve).
- Guide end-to-end ML workflow architecture (data pipelines, feature engineering, model development, deployment, monitoring).
- Serve as executive champion for AI capabilities; articulate value and influence resource allocation.
- Establish strategic partnerships with technology providers and research institutions.
- Drive MLOps adoption for reproducible, automated, and compliant AI development at scale.
- Partner with technology and therapeutic-area leaders to deliver high-impact AI applications.
- Align platform strategy with scientific priorities in a matrixed environment.
Qualifications:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, or related field.
- Minimum 15 years experience in AI/ML or data science.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Track record scaling AI/ML from concept to deployment in complex matrixed organizations; measurable business outcomes.
- 5+ years leading teams (preference: scaling them).
- Expertise in modern ML frameworks, MLOps, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Ability to translate scientific questions into technical solutions; influence without authority.
- Experience in pharma/life sciences/healthcare.
- Experience managing vendor/technology partnerships.
- Platform/system-portfolio architecture mindset.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Anticipated wage: $163,500–$281,600.
- Eligible for company bonus (based on company/individual performance) and comprehensive benefits including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision/prescription, flexible benefits, life insurance, leave, and well-being benefits.
