Role: Senior scientific leader for Lilly's injection physiology and parenteral delivery science, overseeing research on how injection parameters affect tissue response, drug distribution, and systemic exposure across subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular routes. Responsibilities: set technical strategy, lead and develop a team of scientists and engineers, translate mechanistic insights into device and formulation decisions, and represent Lilly externally with academic, regulatory, and industry stakeholders. Manage preclinical and clinical studies utilizing ex-vivo tissue models, imaging, rheology, and CFD workflows to inform device design and dose selection. Requirements: PhD in biomedical/mechanical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or biophysics; 8+ years in injection biomechanics, tissue mechanics, or related fields; proven experience translating science into device/formulation/dose decisions; familiarity with design controls, quality systems, and AI/ML tools; strong leadership and communication skills, with a publication or patent record in injection physiology or parenteral delivery. Preferences: experience with ex-vivo tissue models, biofluid dynamics, medical imaging, or human factors in injection research; external scientific network building skills. High-Value: biologics/modalities, preclinical/early clinical phases, regulated industry experience, hands-on in-lab work (25-50%), travel 10-15%; hybrid work setup.
