Director/Senior Director, Product - Applied Data Science

Role: Lead the strategic scaling of data science initiatives for Formation Bio's asset acquisition and diligence processes, bridging scientific insights with scalable technical solutions. Responsibilities: identify which analytical methods are suitable for scaling into landscape analyses or tools, oversee a cross-disciplinary team of data scientists and engineers, and collaborate with scientific and business units to translate findings into impactful, scalable assets. Responsible for setting technical and product direction, designing pipelines and evaluating dataset validity, and assessing AI/ML approaches for bioinformatics applications. Requirements: 7+ years in data science, applied science, or technical product roles with experience transforming analytics into deployed capabilities; biotech or pharma industry familiarity with drug development; strong strategic, technical, and business acumen; proficiency in AI/ML evaluation and data architecture; proven leadership of technical teams. Preferred: experience in biotech, understanding of drug lifecycle, and capability to influence cross-functional stakeholders. High-Value: focus on computational methods that scale to support asset sourcing, diligence, and scientific risk assessment in drug development. Work setup: hybrid (3 days onsite), primarily in NYC or Boston; remote candidates in research hubs considered.
