Role Summary
The Director/Senior Director, Commercial IT leads the strategic design, delivery, and optimization of digital capabilities for the companyβs Commercial organization, including Sales, Customer Experience/Support, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Operations. This role partners with cross-functional leaders to define the IT roadmap, ensure seamless system integration, and enable data-driven, compliant, customer-centric operations in a life sciences environment. The position reports to the Vice President of Information Technology and is based near Canton, MA in a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a multi-year Commercial IT strategy aligned with corporate objectives and product launch plans.
- Evaluate and implement technologies to support omnichannel engagement, field effectiveness, commercial analytics, and CRM strategy; act as the primary technology advisor to the commercial leadership team.
- Oversee strategy, implementation, and lifecycle management for key Commercial platforms (CRM, Marketing Automation, Data & Analytics platforms, Field enablement tools, data governance) and ensure interoperability across systems.
- Lead and mature the Commercial IT operating model (service management, vendor oversight, release management, issue resolution); implement data privacy, information security, and regulatory reporting practices; establish KPIs for system performance and business value.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Commercial Ops, Customer Services, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Medical Affairs, and IT Security to align processes and data flows; participate in launch readiness and lifecycle management for product launches.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Commercial IT team; manage vendor relationships, SLAs, and contracts; ensure scalable support models for growth and new product launches.
Qualifications
- Required: BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
- Required: 7+ years of hands-on technical leadership in application management.
- Required: 5+ years of Life Science industry experience.
- Required: Deep experience with CRM (Salesforce.com or Veeva), commercial data ecosystems, and omnichannel/MarTech platforms.
- Required: Strong experience in assessing and managing project risk.
- Required: Comprehensive knowledge of Commercial (e.g., Veeva/SFDC), Analytical (e.g., Tableau/Power BI), and Enterprise (e.g., AWS/Azure, SharePoint) applications.
- Required: Proven experience managing IT teams across onsite, hybrid, and remote environments.
- Required: Knowledge of IT compliance (security, privacy, SOX).
- Required: Strong written and oral communication, and strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
