Clinical Research and Development
Responsibilities:
- Act as program and people leader; support key portfolio program milestones; drive identification of novel targets via partnerships with functional teams and external collaborators; promote technical excellence in Respiratory Discovery Research; contribute to strategic direction of the Respiratory DDT.
- Lead and implement drug discovery pipeline programs; evaluate and integrate external programs and academic collaborations aligned to core respiratory disease areas (potential extension into IPF).
- Attract and lead a multidisciplinary team of ~15+ scientists at the Cambridge, MA site.
- Establish and direct multiple research collaborations with leading academic and biotech laboratories using a global research network.
- Join the Immunology DDT Leadership Team with accountability for the Immunology Pipeline success.
- Provide scientific insights to advance pipeline opportunities: access cellular/animal models, select translational strategies, and introduce new technologies.
- Advise and share accountability for transitions across major drug discovery/development milestones; evaluate biotechnology alliances; extract value from public-private consortia; consider internal pipeline and external licensing opportunities; guide research alliance/collaboration efforts.
Qualifications:
- MD/PhD, PhD, or MS in a related field.
- ~12+ years of Immunology Drug Discovery experience focused on chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases in the Respiratory area.
- Ability to translate molecular genotyping/phenotyping into pathway and target identification/validation using pharmacological approaches.
- Prior pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience advancing innovative early development approaches.
- Track record impacting disease understanding and portfolio using innovative disease model approaches.
- Extensive network with leading global investigators.
- Proven people leadership experience (attracting, retaining, developing talent).
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills; experience interacting with executive-level management.
- Ability to deliver results to plan/timelines in a cross-disciplinary academic/industrial environment without formal authority.
