Role Summary

Director of ReDev (Research and Early Development) Finance leading financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support the companyβ€šΓ„Γ΄s ReDev team; ensure financial goals align with strategic decisions and help grow the business while reducing financial risk.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial tools and processes to support the Research and Early Development teams as they assess opportunities for internal innovation investments to build and grow the early pipeline.
  • Ensure the right mix of financial knowledge and accountability with ReDev leadership, enabling leadership to own their financials without being overburdened with process.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the Research and Early Development Organization; build compelling business cases to support processes.
  • Help the CSO, leadership, and HR identify internal capability gaps and recommend opportunities to address them.
  • Collaborate with ReDev team and BD Finance to analyze the financial viability of new business opportunities.
  • Work across the R&D / TOQ Finance team to maximize operational execution.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to senior leadership on new innovation ideas.
  • Ensure contractual points are understood across finance stakeholders for research-driven collaborations.
  • Build models to support long-term planning for lab space needs with ReDev leadership and Facilities/Real Estate teams.
  • Present financial analysis to Senior Leadership.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and report potential financial risks to senior leadership.
  • Serve as a senior member of an integration team as external innovation is acquired.
  • Act as a financial thought leader for ReDev, recommending creative solutions and partnering to execute.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field required; MBA or related advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or related field, preferably with a focus in biotech R&D; prior biotech experience required.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial models, valuations, and business proposals.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
