Role Summary

Director of ReDev (Research and Early Development) Finance leading financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support the company’s Research and Early Development team. Responsible for aligning financial goals with strategic decisions, enabling growth while reducing financial risk.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial tools and processes to support R&D opportunities for internal innovation investments and early pipeline growth.
  • Maintain appropriate financial knowledge and accountability within ReDev leadership, enabling ownership of financials without overburdening processes.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the ReDev organization; build compelling business cases to support processes.
  • Collaborate with the CSO, leadership, and human resources to identify internal capability gaps and propose solutions.
  • Work with ReDev and BD Finance to analyze the financial viability of new opportunities.
  • Coordinate with R&D / TOQ Finance to maximize operational execution.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to senior leadership on new innovation ideas.
  • Ensure contractual points are understood across finance stakeholders for research-driven collaborations.
  • Build models to support long-term planning for lab space with ReDev leadership and Facilities / Real Estate teams.
  • Present financial analysis to Senior Leadership; conduct regular financial reviews and report risks.
  • Act as a senior member of an integration team during external innovation acquisitions.
  • Serve as a financial thought leader for ReDev and collaborate to execute creative solutions to emerging problems.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field; MBA or related advanced degree a plus.
  • Required: Minimum 10 years of experience in finance or a related field, preferably with biotech R&D exposure; prior biotech experience required.
  • Required: Strong budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling, valuations, and business proposal skills.
  • Required: Leadership ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Required: Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Required: Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Required: Exceptional communication and attention to detail; ability to influence across all levels.
