Role Summary

Director, Real World Science leads the evidence strategy and execution programs to ensure evidence planning and generation aligns with understanding physiology, pathophysiology and mechanism of action of Novo Nordisk compounds. Collaborates with Research & Development to translate science into real world evidence and insights, and educates the organization on basic sciences application to real world sciences. Communicates real-world science to internal stakeholders and the broader scientific community.

Responsibilities

  • The incumbent acts as a strategic partner and leads real world science in the development of evidence planning, execution and synthesis with NNI stakeholders across Clinical Data Science & Evidence as well as within Clinical, Medical and Regulatory, including US Operations. Collaborates with global colleagues in Research & Development.
  • Lead the development and execution of real-world science engagements across the portfolio to include all therapeutic areas.
  • Serve as the function area leader in real world science by providing in-house expertise on biological plausibility to support evidence and insights generation across the Novo Nordisk portfolio, utilizing R&D infrastructure and external experts.
  • Lead and manage the execution of the real world science strategy to drive biological plausibility in real world evidence and insights planning, generation and synthesis.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to ensure optimal evidence based on biological plausibility within the organization.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Communicate real world science to internal stakeholders, customers and the scientific community.
  • Provide leadership in the implementation and further development of real world science.
  • Act as a key subject matter expert in basic science applications to real world science functions related to biological plausibility and provide consultation/collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to align with portfolio strategy.

Physical Requirements

10-20% overnight travel required.

Qualifications

  • MD or PhD preferred or Masterβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in appropriate field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, biology) with at least 8 years of experience translating biological plausibility to real world sciences.
  • Experience in real world evidence.
  • Demonstrated prior research accomplishment (e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences) in biological and real-world sciences.
  • Excellent leadership, strong communication and critical thinking skills with knowledge of real-world randomized designs.
  • Subject matter expertise in biological plausibility applied to real world science.
  • Excellent communication skills.
