Role Summary

Director, Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology, Bacterial and Vector Borne Disease Vaccines team. Global leadership role within the Vaccines Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Epidemiology group, focusing on pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs). Conduct RWE and epidemiologic studies to generate evidence on disease burden, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine impact to support the pneumococcal franchise, inform vaccine recommendations, and support development and licensure of next-generation PCVs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct epidemiology studies – including field studies with primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data.
  • Author and review study protocols, reports, presentations (internal and at scientific conferences), and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Provide input to study design (methodology, protocols, analytic plans) for high priority epidemiologic and scientific studies related to pneumococcal vaccines.
  • Develop innovative approaches to addressing global questions on bacterial infectious diseases and vaccines.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external partners for high-priority global studies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts in statistics and data analysis to analyze and interpret data from burden of disease and vaccine studies.
  • Be accountable for collecting epidemiologic and other scientific data necessary for developing vaccine product labels.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD in Epidemiology or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; MD with 4+ years of relevant experience; MPH or Master’s with 7+ years of relevant experience).
  • Subject matter expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Strong epidemiological and statistical methods skills for observational and non-interventional studies.
  • 5+ years of experience in vaccine-related or vaccine-preventable disease medical/scientific activities (research, clinical development, epidemiological studies, infectious disease surveillance).
  • Prefer prior experience conducting vaccine effectiveness and impact studies.
  • Experience operating within large cross-functional matrices and collaborating with multiple partners.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience directing analyses of real-world data using large healthcare databases (ICD-10 codes or claims data).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including lead authorship in at least 5 peer‚Äëreviewed publications in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality results within timelines.
  • Ability to review, evaluate, interpret, and present complex data; significant cross-functional leadership experience; project management to completion.
  • Experience leading end-to-end vaccine epidemiology projects from conception to interpretation of results; ability to influence, coach, and guide others to achieve outcomes.
