Role Summary

Director, Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology, Bacterial and Vector Borne Disease Vaccines team. This global role focuses on conducting RWE and epidemiologic studies to support pneumococcal vaccines, inform vaccine recommendations, and contribute to next-generation PCV development within Pfizerโ€šร„รดs Vaccines RWE/epidemiology team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct epidemiology studies, including field studies with primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data.
  • Author and review study protocols, reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Provide input to study design, including methodology, protocols, and analytic plans for high-priority epidemiologic studies related to pneumococcal vaccine issues.
  • Develop innovative approaches to global questions on bacterial infectious diseases and vaccines.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external partners for high-priority global studies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts in statistics and data analysis to interpret data from burden of disease and vaccine studies.
  • Ensure collection of epidemiologic data necessary for developing vaccine product labels.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD in Epidemiology or related discipline with 5+ years relevant experience; MD with 4+ years; MPH or other Masterโ€šร„รดs with 7+ years).
  • Subject matter expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Strong epidemiological and statistical methods for observational/non-interventional studies.
  • At least 5 years of vaccine-related medical/scientific activities including research, clinical development, epidemiological studies, and infectious disease surveillance.
  • Prior experience conducting vaccine effectiveness and impact studies preferred.
  • Experience in large cross-functional matrices and collaboration with multiple partners.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing real-world data from large health-care databases (ICD-10, claims data).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with lead authorship in at least 5 peer-reviewed publications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Ability to review, evaluate, interpret, and present complex data.
  • Significant cross-functional leadership experience and ability to manage projects to completion.
  • Experience leading a vaccine epidemiology project from conception to interpretation of results, with demonstrated leadership and ability to influence and coach others.
