Role Summary

Director, Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology, Bacterial and Vector Borne Disease Vaccines team. Lead global epidemiology and RWE efforts for pneumococcal vaccines within Pfizer's Vaccines Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology group, collaborating across medical, research, regulatory, and data science functions to generate evidence on disease burden, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine impact to support vaccine recommendations and next-generation PCVs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct epidemiology studies, including field studies with primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data.
  • Author and review study protocols, reports, presentations (internal and at scientific conferences), and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Provide input to study design (methodology, protocols, analytic plans) for high-priority epidemiologic and scientific studies related to pneumococcal vaccines.
  • Develop innovative approaches to address global questions on bacterial infectious diseases and vaccines.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external partners for high-priority global studies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external statisticians to analyze and interpret data from burden of disease and vaccine studies.
  • Be accountable for collecting epidemiologic and other scientific data necessary for developing vaccine product labels.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD in Epidemiology or related field with 5+ years in pharma/academic/medical/public health; MD with 4+ years; MPH or related Masterโ€šร„รดs with 7+ years).
  • Subject matter expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Strong epidemiological and statistical methods for observational/non-interventional studies.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vaccine-related medical/scientific activities including research, clinical development, epidemiological studies, and infectious disease surveillance.
  • Prior experience conducting vaccine effectiveness and impact studies preferred.
  • Experience operating within large cross-functional matrices and collaborating with multiple partners.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience directing analyses of real-world data from large healthcare databases (ICD-10/claims).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including at least 5 lead-authored peer-reviewed publications in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to deliver high-quality results on time.
  • Ability to review, evaluate, interpret, and present complex data.
  • Significant cross-functional leadership experience and ability to manage projects to completion.
  • Proven ability to take vaccine-related epidemiology projects from conception to reporting and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated breadth of leadership experiences, ability to influence, coach others, and create business impact.

Additional Requirements

  • Some travel is required (<15%).
  • Hybrid work arrangement: live within commuting distance and work on-site ~2.5 days per week.
