Role Summary

Director, Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology, Bacterial and Vector Borne Disease Vaccines team. Lead the growth of Pfizer's Epidemiology team within the Vaccines RWE group, focusing on pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) and generating evidence to inform vaccine recommendations, utilization of licensed PCVs, and development of next-generation PCVs. Collaborate across Vaccines Medical teams, Research Units, and the Chief Medical Officer organization to design, execute, and disseminate results from studies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct epidemiology studies, including field studies with primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data.
  • Author and review study protocols, reports, presentations, and peer‚Äëreviewed manuscripts.
  • Provide input to study design and analytic plans for high-priority epidemiologic studies related to pneumococcal vaccines.
  • Develop innovative approaches to address global questions on bacterial infectious diseases and vaccines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners for high-priority global studies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external statisticians and data analysts to interpret burden-of-disease and vaccine study data.
  • Oversee collection of epidemiologic data necessary for developing vaccine product labels.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD in Epidemiology or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; MD with 4+ years; MPH or other Master’s with 7+ years).
  • Subject matter expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Strong epidemiological and statistical methods for observational/non-interventional studies.
  • 5+ years of experience in vaccine-related activities including research, clinical development, epidemiology, and surveillance.
  • Prior experience with vaccine effectiveness and impact studies preferred.
  • Experience operating within large cross-functional matrices and collaborating with multiple partners.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing real-world data from large health-system databases (ICD-10, claims data).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including lead authorship in at least 5 peer‚Äëreviewed publications in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and present complex data; demonstrated cross-functional leadership; project management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead vaccine epidemiology projects from conception to reporting; experience coaching and guiding others.

Additional Requirements
