Director, R&D Portfolio Program Management

Role: The Director leads and develops the R&D Global Portfolio and Project Management team within a designated Bausch + Lomb business vertical (e.g., Vision Care, Surgical, Pharmaceuticals). Objectives include overseeing a portfolio of R&D projects, ensuring effective project execution, and aligning initiatives with strategic goals. Responsibilities encompass managing and mentoring project managers, facilitating governance and project strategy development, coordinating cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The role involves strategic portfolio planning, resource and risk management, and supporting innovation in project delivery. Qualifications: BS/BA in Science or Engineering; advanced degree preferred. Requires 10+ years in Medical Device/Pharma industry, with 10+ years in R&D project management and leadership. Skills include excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management, with proficiency in MS Office, MS Project (preferred), and certifications like PMP advantageous. Experience with process improvement, systems thinking, Agile methodologies, and leading complex programs is essential. High-value biopharma specifics: focus on device/pharma R&D, cross-functional leadership, governance, and strategic portfolio management, with a broad scope covering early development to lifecycle management. Reports to senior leadership; role supports strategic initiatives and innovation within the R&D organization.
