Role: Lead GWE R&D environmental, health & safety (EH&S) initiatives, focusing on industrial hygiene and broader EH&S disciplines to support research operations. Responsibilities: serve as the principal technical authority on chemical, physical, and biological hazard management; lead and moderate a global EH&S Community of Practice; develop and oversee exposure assessment programs; guide hazard control measures, including containment strategies for high-hazard compounds; provide technical oversight of containment systems; support risk assessments, laboratory safety programs, and EH&S governance; influence enterprise EH&S policies and standards; manage site-level EH&S risk registers; advise senior leaders on IH-based solutions; establish performance metrics; explore AI opportunities for EH&S processes; lead incident investigations; represent R&D in enterprise vendor and M&A EH&S activities; and develop EH&S capabilities. Requirements: Bachelor's in industrial hygiene, environmental health, chemistry, engineering, or related field; 10+ yearsβ progressive EH&S experience in regulated life sciences environments; deep expertise in industrial hygiene practices and regulations like OSHA, EPA; proven senior leadership and stakeholder influence skills; excellent communication. Preferred: CIH certification, advanced degrees (MS/MPH/PhD), experience with high-potency compounds/ADCs, BSL-3, digital EH&S management systems, and global vendor due diligence. The role involves domestic and international travel (~30%), requires working across multiple sites, and is based in a hybrid setup, ideally on the U.S. East Coast.
