The Director, PV Governance, Insights and Delivery, Global Patient Safety will play a leadership role within Global Patient Safety (GPS), acting as the strategic orchestrator of the GPS portfolio, you will provide executive leadership with an integrated, dynamic view of pharmacovigilance initiatives across the enterprise, while coordinating portfolio delivery and driving robust assurance to safeguard scope, quality, timelines, and benefits. This pivotal role transforms complex data into actionable cross functional business insights and ensures consistent execution, risk management, and value realisation across the portfolio. Key Responsibilities: Lead collaboration across shared functions to develop portfolio and operational oversight capability that synthesises complex data into strategic insights for GPS Leadership Team awareness, decision-making and planning. Architect and govern the GPS portfolio endâtoâend, tracking milestones, financials, benefits, RAID, and implementing change, dependency, and benefits controls. Orchestrate quarterly portfolio and operational reviews that drive resource optimization and strategic realignment, including health checks, corrective actions and risk escalation. Oversee and lead process improvement, non-drug scientific projects and digital innovation initiatives across the GPS Portfolio to drive efficiency and data integrity across the PV ecosystem. Establish and embed governance frameworks that promote best practice and accelerate decision velocity, while minimising risk exposure and maintaining regulatory compliance Maintain a comprehensive GPS resource forecasting model, identifying resource requirements and constraints providing leadership with data-driven insights to support business planning and optimisation Collaborate with Function leaders to translate operational forecasts into detailed resource requirements and capacity planning. Support consolidated financial governance across PV operational and capital expenditures driving financial discipline and proactive budget management. Implement initiativeâlevel financial intelligence and benefits tracking that enable agile budget reallocation and funding decisions as strategic priorities evolve. Support business and financial planning for GPS in partnership with Finance (e.g. LTP, MTP etc) and wider BPO community. Support the LT and functional leads in delivering objectives and outcomes aligned with AstraZeneca values and strategic pillars, providing visible delivery performance reporting and benefit realisation tracking. Supports the smooth running of specialist GPS Scientific committees and processes, offering advice and prioritising schedules i.e., such as Safety Information Review Committee (SIRC), Specialist Knowledge Groups (SKGs) Assist shared functions in gaining performance metrics and contract utilisation that advise sourcing decisions, with supplier delivery and quality assurance measures aligned to QPPV oversight requirements. Collaborate with the QPPV Office to maintain inspectionâready evidence repositories and auditable decision trails that demonstrate robust pharmacovigilance governance and portfolio delivery control. Serve as a central coordination point connecting collaborators across internal functions and outside partners. Requirements: Bachelor's degree with scientific, technical, or business focus and extensive experience within Patient Safety Extensive experience leading complex, multi-workstream global programs/portfolios in Patient Safety with timely, on budget delivery Led end-to-end delivery of change management activities globally (spanning multiple regions/time zones) Advanced proficiency in portfolio analytics and reporting; consistently delivering executive ready insights with data quality and clear audit trails Demonstrated leadership in matrix environments, resolving cross-functional issues and dependencies A track record crafting concise proposals, gaining approvals from Senior level governance and converting decisions into actionable delivery plans. Ability to engage internal and external partners (Partners, tech vendors, CROs), aligning on outcomes, performance, and remediation plans. Experience leading budgets at a portfolio/program level ($50M+), applying variance analysis and enabling in year reallocation aligned to strategy. Experience building demand/capacity models across internal teams and suppliers; identifying constraints and completing mitigation scenarios. Strong analytical, problem solving, writing and communication skills. Desirables: Expertise in core safety systems (e.g. Safety database) Delivered automation/AI/advanced analytics for case processing, signal management, or safety operations Experience aligning Safety with R&D, Medical, Quality, and IT Certifications: PMP/PRINCE2/MSP/MoP In Office Requirement: When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines.
