Director, Public Affairs, U.S. HIV Prevention Launch Communications

Reporting to the Executive Director, U.S. Prevention Public Affairs, leads U.S. public affairs strategy and execution for the planned launch of once-weekly oral PrEP medication, shaping the external narrative and ensuring communications support awareness, access, and equitable uptake.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive U.S. public affairs strategy; develop prevention-first messaging grounded in science, public health need, and health equity.
- Partner with Medical Affairs and Clinical Development to translate clinical data accurately and compliantly.
- Anticipate/address policy, access, and societal dynamics affecting launch success.
- Own end-to-end launch communications; oversee spokesperson strategy/readiness.
- Drive integrated earned/owned/paid/social channel activation.
- Embed community/advocacy perspectives; amplify prevention awareness/education credibly.
- Serve as cross-functional connector; provide counsel to senior leaders; ensure legal/regulatory compliance.
- Manage issues/crisis preparedness; protect/enhance reputation.
- Monitor insights (media, sentiment, engagement), optimize in real time, and report against KPIs.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
- 12+ years relevant experience (BA) or 10+ years (MA) in public affairs/communications within biopharma/healthcare.
- Proven major product launch communications leadership (ideally HIV/infectious disease/prevention/public health).
- Strong HIV prevention landscape knowledge; matrixed leadership; external stakeholder engagement.
- Expertise in issues management, media relations, reputation; regulatory/compliance communications understanding.
- Strong verbal/written/interpersonal and senior-leader advisory skills; project management.

Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- Salary range: $210,375.00–$272,250.00; may include discretionary bonus/LTI, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical/dental/vision/life.
